Open Position 

Marine Product Designer

  • Job Duties and Descriptions:
Consult with existing and potential customers to determine their needs and requirements on the contemplated marine products or boating accessories; Prepare detailed proposal for the design project based on customers input, in-depth research in materials, structures, applications and other key factors affecting the design; Analyze all data and information collected from the research and bring it down to finalize the design projects stories and directions; Create product concepts depicting each advantage and unique feature designed to either solve an existing problem or fulfill stated requirements and underlying industrial standard; Sketch design ideas by hand and share these ideas with internal team and/or customers in quick visual presentations for the purpose of narrowing down the design direction; Convert hand sketches into digital sketches to flesh out and finalize more details in features; Develop further and/or modify the product design selected for prototype building in specialized computer software; Confer and collaborate with internal engineering team to ensure requirements on technical specifications and promised functionalities are fully met; Examine material and manufacturing aspects of the design through working with specialists in such areas on cost, manufacturability, production cycle and etc. to further evaluate feasibility of the selected design ideas; Create final concept with CAD modeling (computer-aided-design) and make prototype models to verify and refine design and features; Configure and operate 3D printer (three-dimensional) to print tangible models to be held in hand so as to check appearance, functions and manufacturing issues; Evaluate the prototyped design according to overall criteria for all requirements, safety standards for marine products and boating accessories, and aesthetic aspects of the design; Present the final design and demonstrate the prototyped model to the customers for approval of production release.

  • ​Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in industrial design is required.
